I Wish I Said That

“I Wish I Said That”

Music and Lyrics by: Michael Riser

Dancing with my honey, out last Friday night, she was looking beautiful and everything was right
Suddenly some drunken fools that stumbled through the door, started telling blond jokes and making sure we heard
My blood shot up and I set off to put ‘em through the wall, she said, “baby, let me handle this I don’t want you to brawl”
She walked to them and said, “I hope you boys enjoyed your laugh, ‘cause it takes a real loser to insult what he can’t have”

Man, I wish I said that, I’m in awe
She lined ‘em up and knocked ‘em down like a cannon ball
Those ruby lips, are lightning quick, sharper than a saw
Man, I wish I said it, she was quicker on the draw

Driving home and laughing, starting to relax, as my luck would have it the old pick up got a flat
I pulled right over, put the hazards on and got the spare, just as I was finishing  a tow truck appeared
Don’t know what he was thinking but he started taking rude and said, “bet she’s overheating and I’ll tell you what I’ll do,
I’ll fix her up for just a grand, you’re truck don’t sound too good”, she said, ”you must be a psychic ‘cause you never popped the hood”

Man, I wish I said that, I’m in awe
She lined him up and knocked him down like a cannon ball
Those ruby lips, are lightning quick, sharper than a saw
Man, I wish I said it, she was quicker on the draw

She never stops amazing me, that clever girl of mine, ‘cause underneath that yellow hair she’s got a quicker mind
Some guys might get embarrassed but I’m just an honest man that admits his golden honey tells it better than he can

We got home that night, just before the dawn, birds already chirping, morning paper on the lawn
Cursing underneath my breath, thinking ‘bout those jerks, and although it was Saturday, I had to go to work,
I said, “ baby come and join me, for a moment on the porch, and I pulled her in close to me to share some tender thoughts
before I could, she looked at me just like I never saw, and said, “I’m proud of you with all my heart and I love you with all my soul”

I said, aw Baby, that was beautiful

Man, I wish I said that, I’m in awe
She lined me up and knocked me down like a cannon ball
Those ruby lips, are lightning quick, sharper than a saw
Man, I wish I said it, she was quicker on the draw

I said, man, I wish I said that, I’m in awe
She lines ‘em up and knocks ‘em down like a cannon ball
Those ruby lips, are lightning quick, sharper than a saw
Man, I wish I said it, she was quicker on the draw

I said, man, I wish I said it, she was quicker on the draw. Don’t let that blond hair fool you boys, ‘cause she’s quicker on the draw
